The Feet
The feet are the foundation, support the body’s weight and provide a mobile platform. Although small in size, they carry us through our lives and often mistreated. The structure of the feet is complex and has over 100 ligaments, muscles and tendons that move 33 joints and 26 bones. The arches of the foot help to distribute the weight and act as shock absorbers. In Indian culture we often see Hindus touching feet of elder or respected people as a sign of respect. This has a scientific explanation which is very interesting- The nerves that start from our brain spread across the body like wires and end in the fingertips of the hands and feet. When the fingers touch other person’s feet, a close circuit is formed and a connection between the two bodies is created. The fingers and palms act as ‘receptors’ and the feet are the ‘provider’ of the energy.
